Wrinkle Remedies: What’s The Best Procedure For Getting Rid Of Wrinkles
Wrinkles are an inevitable part of ageing. Many of us may start to notice wrinkles starting to set in as early as our 30s. While some people are happy to embrace them, others aren’t so enthralled by the appearance of forehead wrinkles or crow’s feet. Fortunately, most wrinkles can be reduced with easy procedures. Below are 5 examples of procedures that you can undergo to erase wrinkles.
Botox injections
Botox injections involve using a syringe to inject a substance called Botulinum into the muscles which effectively paralyzes them. This can be used to effectively get rid of dynamic wrinkles caused by facial expressions such as forehead lines, smile lines, frown lines and crow’s feet. Botox has only temporary results - usually 3 to 4 months. The procedure often takes 30 to 60 minutes and may involve multiple injections.
Dermal fillers
Dermal fillers are another injectable substance. Rather than paralyzing muscles, dermal fillers can help fill out areas. They are most commonly used to fill out lips, but can also be used to treat deep static wrinkles or fill out areas of loose skin. Fillers are also temporary, but tend to last longer than Botox - often 6 months to 2 years. The treatment itself takes 30 minutes and there may be some temporary swelling and bruising for a couple days after.
Laser resurfacing
Laser resurfacing - also known as laser skin rejuvenation - is a procedure that uses laser technology to remove outer layers of dead skin. It can be used to treat many skin issues from acne to scarring. It is also an effective treatment against fine line wrinkles. In fact, wrinkles erased by laser skin rejuvenation may not return again for 3 to 5 years. The procedure can take 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on how many wrinkles are being targeted at once. Some people may prefer to carry out this procedure in two or more sessions. It usually takes about 2 weeks for your face to heal after getting this procedure.
Chemical peel
A chemical peel involves using chemicals to exfoliate the skin. Like laser resurfacing, it can remove dead skin and help treat a variety of different skin disorders. When used against fine line wrinkles, chemical peels can also have lasting results. The procedure typically takes between 30 and 60 minutes. Except some redness and swelling afterwards - this should subside after a couple weeks (lighter peels may only take a few days to recover from, but are generally not used to treat wrinkles).
Facelift
The most drastic form of treatment for wrinkles is a facelift. This involves surgically lifting and repositioning skin on the face to help smooth out wrinkles. A facelift can have some of the most effective and long-lasting results. Unlike other procedures listed above, you will usually have to be anaesthetised for this treatment and it will cost a lot more. The procedure usually takes between 2 and 5 hours and you may have to wait 2 to 4 weeks for scarring to fully heal (this is usually hidden behind the ears or in the hairline).
